The Karlaplan Hotel – part of the Clarion Collection – is housed in a traditional building with a handsome brownstone façade that dates from 1914. The entrance is a stunning stone arch through which steps rise to the lobby. The interior is designed with a personal touch detectable in such features as cast iron objets d’art and marble friezes. Varying in size due to the age of the original building, the 85 guestrooms are light and airy, with parquet floors, Persian carpets, exclusive Jensen beds and Versace textiles. The dominant colour scheme is black and white, but other rich tones, such as caramel and plum, have been used to accentuate the design in certain rooms. The hotel offers a hot and cold buffet every morning in its welcoming breakfast room.
