The Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza is a beautiful hotel, built in 1884. It is housed in a grey neo-classical building which dominates its surroundings. The lobby is small but grand and features a shiny white marble floor, marble roman busts, yellow pillars and a dark mahogany wood reception desk. The medium sized guest rooms are kept in very good condition and feature a traditional design style, with patterned blue carpets, floral bedclothes and curtains and simple pine furnishings. The suites have been elegantly renovated, retaining such original details as stuccowork and tiled stoves. On the ground floor, overlooking Birger Jarls gatan, you will find one of Stockholm's top restaurants: "Vassa Eggen". The restaurant opened in April 2002 and the restaurateurs, Christian Olsson and Kristoffer Sandström, who operate the business, were also involved in its design. This is a "fine dining" restaurant with high ambitions in regard to the dishes served and the service. The bar at the Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza is also popular retreat, both for the hotel's guests and for residents of Stockholm. Here you can enjoy a pleasant drink before going down to the nightclub.
