Guest Comment:
In the 3 star category this hotel rates well. It's centrally located, clean and has the added quirk of being a boat. In summer it must be very pleasant to sit on the extensive decks topside. However, the rooms are cabins which, in terms of size and comfort, should be borne in mind. I read another guest review that "fine for a couple of nights" and I would agree. Also that the breakfast is good in a restaurant with a fine view. The restaurant itself (for dinner) is also fine but not inexpensive.
Top Tip:
Other than the Malardrottningen itself, there are currently no other restaurants (or any shops) on the island of Riddarholmen. The restaurant listed in the guidebooks is under refurbishment. However, 5 minutes on foot takes you into Gamla Stan or north to the city where there's a wide choice of shops & restaurants. The best restaurant I found (good value & relaxed) was Vapiano beside the metro, Gamla Stan entrance. The best things I did were attend the Royal Swedish Ballet at the Kungliga Opperan (relatively cheap midweek), a concert in the Storkyrkn (sp? - cathedral), the Moderna Museet and the Vasa Museum (allow at least 3 hours).
